About the Czech Republic Government Scholarship 2027

The Czech Republic Government Scholarship 2027, officially known as the Government Scholarships of the Czech Republic, is part of the Czech Republic’s Foreign Development Cooperation Programme.

The programme provides financial support for eligible international students pursuing selected postgraduate programmes at public higher education institutions in Czechia.

For the 2027/2028 academic year, the scholarship covers selected follow-up Master’s and Doctoral programmes. The available programmes depend on the applicant’s nationality and the official study programme list for the scholarship cycle.

Who Provides the Czech Republic Government Scholarship 2027?

The scholarship is provided by the Government of the Czech Republic.

The programme is administered through cooperation between the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MŠMT) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MZV), with healthcare arrangements involving the Czech Ministry of Health.

The Czech Republic Government Scholarship is therefore different from scholarships offered independently by individual Czech universities.

Hosted Universities

The scholarship is available for study at selected public higher education institutions in the Czech Republic.

Applicants do not receive a scholarship that can automatically be used at every university or for every course. The scholarship applies to the study programmes included in the official government scholarship offer. Therefore, applicants should select a programme from the eligible study options rather than assuming that any Master’s or PhD course in Czechia qualifies.

Programme and Academic Level

The Czech Government Scholarship 2027 supports postgraduate study at two main levels:

  • Follow-up Master’s
  • Doctoral (PhD)

The scholarship also provides a Czech-language route for applicants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine and Belarus (democratic forces).

Follow-up Master’s Degree

Applicants for a follow-up Master’s programme must have completed a Bachelor’s degree.

Selected English-taught Master’s programmes have a standard duration of two years.

Doctoral Degree

Applicants for a Doctoral programme must have completed a Master’s degree.

Selected English-taught Doctoral programmes have a standard duration of three to four years.

Czech-Taught Master’s Route

Applicants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine and Belarus (democratic forces) can apply for selected Czech-taught Master’s programmes.

This route begins with a one-year Czech language and professional preparation course, followed by the selected two-year Master’s programme.

Field of Study

The scholarship does not cover every academic field available at Czech universities.

The government publishes selected study programmes and fields eligible for the scholarship. Therefore, applicants should check the current programme list before choosing a course or university.
