How to Use Your CGPA for Scholarship Planning
Your Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) summarizes your academic performance across more than one semester, session or completed stage of study. It is usually calculated from the grade points and credit units recorded for all completed courses, not by taking a simple average of semester GPAs.
Enter your semester results and the credit units used by your institution to estimate your CGPA. The result can help you plan your scholarship search, but your official transcript remains the document universities and scholarship providers rely on.
Check the scale before you compare
Institutions use different grading scales. A CGPA may be reported out of 4.0, 4.3, 5.0, 10.0 or as a percentage. Before using a published minimum requirement, check the scale and conversion guidance provided by the scholarship provider or university. Do not assume that results on different scales are directly equivalent.
CGPA is one part of your application
Some scholarships publish a minimum CGPA, while others review applicants competitively. Your field of study, academic record, research interests, leadership, work or volunteer experience, language requirements, references and application documents may also matter. Use your estimate to identify suitable opportunities, then read the official eligibility requirements in full.
